How it all began…
Hi, I am Sara!
As a busy mum of three boys and working as a primary school teacher, for the past 8 years painting has become my sanctuary. I look forward to sharing more of this passion of mine with you.
After studying away from my hometown and venturing on my travels, I returned to the county I grew up in, Pembrokeshire, to build a family home. Together with my husband, we set our hearts on renovating an old traditional farmhouse and it was during this huge project that I realised the versatility of one natural material, Welsh purple slate, which became my unique choice of canvas.
Why slate, you might ask? Well, it's not just any canvas, it's a canvas with character! Versatile and under-appreciated, slate offers a unique texture and allure that sparked my creative journey.
With every piece, and stroke of my brush I aim to capture the essence of our mesmerising region, offering you a glimpse into its beauty.
Family walks exploring the coastline of West Wales, and the untouched landscapes that Wales has to offer, provides endless opportunities to create art that I hope you will appreciate as much as my kids do.
Yn Sir Benfro ges i fy magu, ac er imi adael i astudio a theithio, dychwelais ar frys i’m gwreiddiau i adeiladu cartref clyd. Ar ôl i mi priodi, ein prosiect cyntaf oedd i adnewyddu hen ffermdy traddodiadol…her a hanner! Tua diwedd y prosiect enfawr, sylweddolais ar hyblygrwydd un deunydd naturiol... Llechen borffor Cymreig, a arweiniodd at fy newis unigryw o gynfas.
Roeddwn i eisiau datblygu’r cysyniad o ddefnyddio llechi yn fy ngwaith celf. Roedd paentio ar doriadau o’r deunydd hwn yn fy ysbrydoli i gynhyrchu amrywiaeth o syniadau. Gan ganolbwyntio ar briodoleddau diddorol Gorllewin Cymru o’r bryniau tonnog, cefn gwlad agored hyd i’r arfordir garw, cefais gyfle i ddal y golygfeydd anhygoel.
